This Month In Clay Target Nation

July 26, 2026 By hdyer

The August issue of Clay Target Nation is packed full of tips and tactics that will help you find more success and have more fun on the sporting clays course or the skeet field this season. Plus, we’ve got coverage of some of the summer’s biggest events, including the NSSA Kolar US Open.

In our Training Tips columns, you’ll find some helpful insight from Tim Short about maximizing your eye potential, as well as a great reminder from Clayton Rue about making the most of the easy targets on a course.

Competition season is in full swing, and in this issue you can read all about Brandon Powell’s HOA win at the NSCA Southeast Regional, as well as Ed Smith’s 399×400 to win the NSSA Kolar US Open. There’s even a US Open photo gallery featuring photos from several different host clubs.

Dr. Richard Colo is back to remind shooters that the eyes should lead the hands when they’re shooting — not the other way around. Anthony Matarse has a great feature about how to simplify your mental game, particularly when you’re still working your way up through the classes. Meanwhile, Victoria Stellato urges skeet shooters to hop on the positivity cycle created by consistency and offers some advice on building and maintaining it. Finally, don’t miss some great tips on prepping for tournaments from Bobby Fowler, Haylyn Hanks and Madison Sharpe.
